Blumhouse has confirmed their upcoming horror movie “Totally Killer” will hit Prime Video later this year. This project is a part of a larger deal between Blumhouse and Amazon Studios that was struck in 2019. The companies also released some first look images to tease us while we wait for a trailer.

The time traveling slasher-comedy is directed by Nahnatchka Khan from a screenplay by Jen D’Angelo, based on an original script by David Matalon and Sasha Perl-Raver.

“Totally Killer” centers around Jamie (Kiernan Shipka) whose mom, Pam (Julie Bowen) is terrorized by the resurgence of the Sweet Sixteen Killer. Who was a masked maniac that slaughtered a group of teenage girls in the ‘80s. With the help of her friend Amelia (Kelcey Mawema), she travels back in time to 1987 and teams up with the teen version of her mom (Olivia Holt) to try and stop the killer.

The film also stars Randall Park, Lochlyn Munro, Charlie Gillespie, Stephi Chin-Salvo, Anna Diaz, Jeremy Monn-Djasgnar, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, Ella Choi, Liana Liberato, Nathaniel Appiah, and Jonathan Potts. “Totally Killer” has already been rated R for Bloody violence, language, sexual material, and teen drug/alcohol use.

“The idea of a horror-comedy time travel movie is, I’m gonna be honest, something I never thought of in my life,” Khan said. “So when I was approached by the amazing creatives at Blumhouse and Amazon about Totally Killer, it was just so unique and exciting I had to be involved. And then add this incredible cast on top of that? Everybody get readyyyyyyy.”

“With Nahnatchka’s vision and the exciting cast led by Kiernan Shipka and Olivia Holt, we are confident Totally Killer will resonate with our audience around the world,” Julie Rapaport, head of movies at Amazon Studios said. “We could not be more thrilled to watch this story come to life and to continue our longstanding collaboration with the incredible team at Blumhouse.”

Producers for “Totally Killer” include Jason Blum for Blumhouse, with Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath for Divide/Conquer. Executive producers are Khan and Chloe Yellin for Fierce Baby Productions, Chris McCumber and Jeremy Gold for Blumhouse Television, and Brian Parker.

“Totally Killer” hits Prime Video October 6th, 2023. We’ll keep you posted on updates as they become available. But in the meantime you can check out the rest of the first look images below:
