“Yellowjackets” Star Sarah Desjardins Joins “Tron: Ares”

Disney’s third “Tron” film has officially added “Yellowjackets” star Sarah Desjardins to the cast. The movie will be directed by Joachim Rønning (“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”), from a script by Jack Thorne (“His Dark Materials”) and Jesse Wigutow (“The Prince”). This will be the third addition to the classic Disney film series that started in 1982.

The previous installments focused mostly on the game’s world itself. “Tron” (1982) centered around video game designer Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) entering his own digital creation. The sequel “Tron: Legacy” (2010) focused on his son Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) following in his father’s footsteps and uploading to the Grid.

Current rumors indicate “Tron: Ares” will take place more in the real world. With a plot that revolves around a sentient program that crosses over into the human world. That is, of course, not ready for contact.

The “Tron: Ares” cast so far includes Desjardins, Oscar winner Jared Leto (“Morbius”), Greta Lee (“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”), Evan Peters (“Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”), Jodie Turner-Smith (“Murder Mystery 2”), and Cameron Monaghan (“Gotham” ).

There is no release date set for “Tron: Ares,” but it is expected to hit sometime in 2025. Though, with the current WGA and SAG strikes, that could very easily change. We’ll keep you posted on updates about this project as they become available.
