Outsourcing Vs Offshoring in Casino Development

    What is Outsourcing?

In the simplest terms, outsourcing is the act of hiring a third party that is located abroad, such as an agency of developers, to help to design an application, or a website. One of the biggest benefits of outsourcing is that after the project has ended, the rights and ownership of the project are typically transferred to the client. This can be stipulated especially within a contract so as to avoid any uncomfortable disagreements.

According to Gambling Guardian, outsourcing is the more common of the two options as an agency can be hired on an ad-hoc basis, allowing them to perform their role and then step away from their obligations. With that being said, outsourcing can be a little more expensive, as most agencies will want to charge higher rates as they won’t be placed on a retainer, which means that they may not be required again in the future.

    What is Offshoring?

Although similar to outsourcing in the sense that an external, typically foreign agency will assist with the development, with offshoring, a contract is typically established to provide a basis for a partnership. For example, the company owner could choose to establish the branding, while the offshoring agency may handle the technicalities. A benefit of this is being able to claim that the actual entity is abroad and therefore can operate as if it wasn’t located where the owner is, which may have stricter laws, or completely alienate a particular market from having access to the platform.

Offshoring can be an excellent way to secure a business deal and have it overseen by a third party, which can save time and effort, and as an additional bonus, the costs of this service can be lower than with outsourcing as most agencies will aspire to provide package deals to their clients; especially if they are held on a retainer.

    Which Option is Better?

This will of course depend on the entities’ preferences. Some business owners will prefer the flexibility of outsourcing, as they can simply find a reliable and reputable development company, contact them with their idea and needs, receive a quote and then make a decision. The good thing about this solution is that multiple quotes can be obtained, allowing plenty of room to consider options to reflect a budget.

With offshoring, the same considerations can be made as briefly mentioned above, with the additional factor being that an offshore company will be required in the longer-term. This is because they may be the ones holding the license to trade, or it may be their team that are managing the customer helplines and so on.

It’s also possible to outsource these post-development services, but as an offshore company will usually provide a package deal that can be cheaper than hiring freelancers over extended periods of time. Many business owners prefer this method as they can get to know their partner and collaborate with them on a more personal level.

What is the Main Difference Between Outsourcing and Offshoring?

One of the main differences relates to the location of the agencies in question. In most cases, a company that is outsourced is simply found online and can be located anywhere, including in the country that the company owner wanting to open a casino app is in. Outsourcing isn’t about the location, it’s about hiring an external, third-party team that can take care of the type of tasks that the company owner of the casino entity might not be able to perform.

On the other hand, offshoring is a literal term for hiring a company located elsewhere to the company owner. The main reason to do this is to take advantage of cheaper costs, but also if the casino application or website is better off being registered abroad. Different countries propose varying rules and regulations, and although all casino services must adhere to specific policies in order to become registered and recognized, the laws in different countries can differ.

For instance, in some parts of the Mediterranean, it is entirely illegal to gamble online unless the visitor signs up to one of the government-owned websites. This is also the case in some South American countries. As a result, countries that don’t have these strict rules can be a better option to open up a gambling website, because they are more flexible and can welcome an international audience.

Of course, some people will use a VPN to bypass these restrictions, but studies have shown that only a small percentage will do this to access their favorite gambling site. As a result, it can be far more beneficial to open a website that can welcome a wider audience, and this is why many prefer offshoring to outsourcing.

    Which Results are Better?

This isn’t so much about outsourcing and offshoring, but more about the capabilities of the agency that has been hired. This is also why it’s a good idea to read reviews and get to know about the potential of the company in question. Both types can provide high quality results, although some agencies might cut corners or rush projects, and so it’s advisable to consider their performance history closely before making a decision.

It’s also possible to request samples of work previously completed to get a better understanding of the type of quality to expect, as well as being able to take inspiration that may be usable in the casino development project itself. By doing so, peace of mind can be achieved and the project should run far more efficiently.
