Heavy metal Satanic band Ghost is known for their deeply good hooks, harmonic vocals, and just overall bad-assery. They also do some pretty fantastic covers as well. Bands like Abba, The Beatles, Metallica, and Eurythmics to name a few. Now they can add another cover to their list. “Stay” by Shakespears Sisters is to be featured for the final scene and end credits of “Insidious: The Red Door.” And this time, Ghost will be accompanied by actor and tony-nominated singer Patrick Wilson (“Phantom of the Opera,” “Insidious“).

Wilson is actually responsible for bringing this collaboration together. A massive fan of Ghost, Wilson met with band frontman Tobias Forge while directing this current installment of the “Insidious” films. Ghost had already been working on a cover of “Stay,” but after hearing their song “Spillways” (featuring Joe Elliott of Def Leppard), Wilson just had to be part of the song. The track now features Wilson’s vocals, as well as Forge’a. And it sounds amazing.

“It was Joe Bishara, our ‘Insidious’ composer and resident Lipstick Demon who first got me into Ghost about 10 years ago,” Wilson said. “Ghost had the right blend of metal, melody, and an unforgettable image. This coming from a guy who collected KISS cards in the ’70s… so I know good rock branding and imagery when I see it! Ghost, for me, is one of the most unique rock bands out there. Tobias’ sense of melody is only matched by his storytelling. The blistering imagery of him and the band is unlike any other. The balance of dark lyrics with soaring (and dare I say… angelic) melodies, make listening to them a different experience than any other band out there.”

Wilson had nothing but glowing things to say about Forge and his band. And who can blame him? Ghost is an amazing band and their sound is never the same album to album. Always trying something new and yet never short on story and absolute bangers.
