A new rumor making the rounds proposes Mila Kunis is possibly being eyed to play The Thing in Marvel Studios‘ upcoming “Fantastic Four” movie. She’s also been rumored to play the Invisible Woman, Sue Storm. Director Matt Shakman has insisted The Thing be played by a Jewish actor, which Kunis is.

This wouldn’t be the first time The Thing was a woman. Canonically so far, Ben Grimm aka The Thing, has been played and portrayed as a man. In the “Future Flight” comics, a woman, Miss Thing, wore a “Thing Suit.” Her powers came from “Thing Rings,” which were a homage to the cartoon series “The Thing.”

In the story, Johnny Storm’s pop star girlfriend Darla Deering was chosen and given the “Thing Rings.” These rings outfitted her in a powerful exoskeleton that gave her Thing-like strength. She also has an invisible force field helmet.

Kunis recently fielded a question about the casting. “I am not in Fantastic Four,” Kunis told James Corden. “But I know who is. But I don’t wanna get in trouble with the Mouse!”

So far, no casting has been announced for the film, which will bring the entire Fantastic Four officially into the MCU. The film currently has a 2025 release date.
