When it comes to buying a home it’s always good to do your due diligence and make sure that everything is structurally sound. It would appear that these homes built in Draper County in Utah were not up to code and thanks to one inspector who went back and informed the families that had moved in already, no one was hurt when they collapsed. The homes had been evacuated since October of last year when the Draper City Building Officials issued a notice revoking the Certificates of Occupancy.
The homes were locally were given the nickname “disaster edge homes.” Police have been warning people to stay away from the area because it was so unstable. It was just a few days ago that two of the houses fell and the video of the destruction was caught.
The Draper City Government says that two residences – the homes on each side of the properties that slid, were evacuated and have been condemned. Signage and fencing has been placed around those residences. The affected area is being monitored by Draper City Police. Bystanders should not visit the vicinity of the slide. Hopefully this is covered by the home owners insurance.
