“Furiosa,” “Dune Part 2,” “Beetlejuice 2” Sizzle Reel Shown During CinemaCon

We are absolutely beside ourselves with excitement! While footage shown during CinemaCon, happening right now in Las Vegas, doesn’t usually make it’s way to the public, we’re REALLY hoping it does this time. Warner Bros. Pictures is in the middle of their presentation, and happened to show a very important sizzle reel.

Footage included “Furiosa,” the prequel film to George Miller‘s “Mad Max: Fury Road” starring Anya Taylor-Joy as the character originally portrayed by Charlize Theron. Footage shown today included shots of Tayor-Joy in full costume. The film has long been in development, and is currently in post-production. It’s holding steady for a May 25th, 2024 release.

Director Denis Villeneuve was on hand to talk about “Dune Part Two,” which is the second half of his adaptation of Frank Herbert‘s seminal sci-fi novel, “Dune.” “Part Two” will again star Timotheé Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Stellan Skarsgård as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, and Zendaya as Chani. Newcomers for this film include Austin Butler as Feyd, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, and Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV.

“Part Two is an epic war movie, much more dense. We visited Arrakis,” Villeneuve said. “We visit new locations, everything is new in the film. In the first movie we shot 40% in IMAX, this time it’s full IMAX.”

Footage shown included a Chani and Paul kiss: “You will never lose me, Paul Atreides.” Paul riding a Shai Hulud, and a completely bald Feyd.

“Beetlejuice 2,” long rumored to be happening, was confirmed as actually happening. Production has started in London.

Footage from “Barbie,” “Wonka,” Mickey 17,” and “Joker: Folie à Deux” was also shown.

    This story is developing…

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
