Apparently there’s no limit to how far an Amazon courier will go to deliver a package. We’ve heard the unfortunate stories surrounding Amazon workers and the tenuous employment they face. Which is why an Amazon courier walked straight into a police stand-off in order to deliver a package. Police were responding to a hostage situation in North Carolina when an Amazon delivery van came wandering through the slew of police cars.
A bystander took video of the courier. Police watch in stunned silence as the van wanders into the tense throng of officers. The courier attempts to approach the house before promptly being stopped by officers and taking the package. Regardless of being thwarted in his attempt, the courier dutifully snaps a picture of the package in order to report it as delivered. Talk about taking your job seriously.
The call police were responding to was a domestic violence call. The dispute had escalated to dangerous levels. At 4900 block of Long Pier Lane, suspect David Lonnell Sanders, had a warrant out for his arrest in Texas. After de-escalation, Sanders was arrested and charged with false imprisonment and assault on a female. Due to the gravity of the situation, police set up a perimeter around the house and began negotiations with Sanders.
Obviously, being unaware of the situation, the courier simply proceeded to fulfill his duties as an Amazon employee. And certainly could have caused significant issues had he been allowed to reach the door. Luckily, Sanders was apprehended without further interruption.
