While the glitz and glamor of Hollywood gathered for the 95th Academy Awards, Disney fans were anxiously awaiting the official full-length trailer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of their classic tale, “The Little Mermaid.”
Halle Bailey stars as Ariel, the iconic red-haired mermaid daughter of King Triton, who dreams of knowing a world different than hers.
The film also stars Daveed Diggs (“Hamilton,” “Snowpiercer”) as the voice of Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay (“Luca,” “Room”) as the voice of Flounder, Awkwafina (“Raya and the Last Dragon”) as the voice of Scuttle, Jonah Hauer-King (“A Dog’s Way Home”) as Prince Eric, Art Malik (“Homeland”) as Sir Grimsby, Noma Dumezweni (“Mary Poppins Returns”) as Queen Selina, Javier Bardem (“Dune“) as King Triton, and Melissa McCarthy (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?,” “Bridesmaids”) as Ursula.
Rob Marshall (“Chicago,” “Mary Poppins Returns”) directs from a script by two-time Oscar nominee David Magee (“Life of Pi,” “Finding Neverland”).
“The Little Mermaid” is set to swim into theaters May 26th, 2023.
