Ok, first and foremost- while this juicy headline makes a lot of sense, there is no PROOF it’s a thing. Yet. We say yet, because there is every possibility it does end up happening. Jenna Ortega, star of Netflix’s hit series “Wednesday,” may (or may not) be joining the ever-long-gestating “Beetlejuice 2” film.

Rumors of a followup film based on Tim Burton‘s 1988 classic “Beetlejuice” starring Michael Keaton, Geena Davis, Winnona Rider, Catherine O’Hara, and Alec Baldwin pop up every 6 months or so. But so far, nothing concrete has happened.
That said, with the success of “Wednesday,” which Burton was HEAVILY involved with, perhaps now is the time. Rumors indicate Ortega would play the daughter of Lydia (Rider), Keaton would return (obviously), and Burton would direct.

There’s even a possible production start date mentioned of May or June of this year. But, again, there’s no real proof this is happening.
Ortega is hosting “Saturday Night Live” this week, and “Wednesday” was picked up for a second season. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
