Lizzo, Cookie Monster Enjoy a Cookie Flute on “Sesame Street”

Anyone who watches “Sesame Street” knows celebrities often guest star for episodes. From Robin Williams to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, everyone wants the chance to interact with a favorite Muppet. Just recently, Lizzo got her opportunity to interact with both Elmo and Cookie Monster! The latter seems to be the musician’s favorite.

In 2019, Cookie Monster tweeted a remix of Lizzo‘s “Truth Hurts.” Cookie then tweeted at Lizzo, saying “Me just took a DNA test turns out me 100% cookies.” To which Lizzo responded with expanded lyrics, “EVEN WHEN ME CRUMBLE CRAZY ME GOT SHORTBREAD PROBLEMS THATS THE MONSTER IN ME NOM NOM THEN ME EAT EM THATS THE COOKIE IN ME.”

So it stands to reason the prolific music artist would get her chance to meet the Muppet face to face. After being presented with a cookie flute by Elmo, Lizzo asks if she could have the honor of playing. Overhearing the jaunty beat while she and Elmo groove, Cookie Monster soon approaches and asks if he might give it a try.

“I didn’t know you played the flute!” Lizzo says. To which Cookie Monster simply replies, “Me don’t” before promptly devouring the flute as only the cookie-eating machine can. Lizzo doesn’t seem too broken up, but does remind Cookie Monster that the cookie flute was one-of-a-kind. But Cookie Monster is well-aware of this knowledge, considering it an honor to consume it.

Not one to break the mood, Cookie promptly plays the flute from within his body. Much to the surprise of Lizzo and Elmo. But it doesn’t stop the trio from dancing to the beat. It’s adorable. It keeps with Lizzo’s current trend of playing unusual flutes. Luckily, this one was far tastier and less fragile than President James Madison‘s crystal flute she played at a concert in Washington, DC.

The one and only cookie flute for the one and only, @lizzo! Your furry friends love you! ??❤️ pic.twitter.com/n9HiBbCAww
