Amazon Prime Video has released the highly-anticipated trailer for the upcoming biographical film, “Air.” Directed by Ben Affleck, the movie delves into the fascinating story behind the creation of the iconic Air Jordan brand, and the legendary partnership between Michael Jordan and Nike. The film explores the previously unseen events in the sportswear industry that led to the birth of one of the most successful marketing partnerships in history.

The trailer focuses on Sonny Vaccaro, the marketing visionary who played a key role in the partnership. Vaccaro, played by comedian Marlon Wayans, was instrumental in convincing Jordan to sign his first sneakers deal with Nike. The film takes us back to before the partnership, when Vaccaro was just a man with big dreams, and a passion for sports marketing.

In addition to Vaccaro’s story, the trailer highlights the important role played by Michael Jordan’s mother, Deloris Jordan, in the creation of the Air Jordan brand. Newly minted EGOT Viola Davis stars as Deloris, a fierce mother who was determined to protect and support her son.

    Matt Damon, “Air” Amazon Studios

The film features an all-star cast including Matt Damon as a Nike executive, Affleck as Nike co-founder Phil Knight, Jason Bateman, Viola Davis, Chris Messina, Marlon Wayans, and Chris Tucker. With such a talented cast, “Air” promises to be a standout.

Ben Affleck directs from a script written by Alex Convery. Affleck, Damon, Peter Guber, Jason Michael Berman, David Ellison, Jeff Robinov, and Madison Ainley are producing. “Air” marks Affleck’s first time directing his longtime friend and collaborator, Damon.

“Air” hits theaters on April 5, 2023 and will later be available on Prime Video later in the year.
