4 Best Gaming Movies of All Time

When it comes to movies adapted from video games, it is a risky thing. Making a movie adapted from a video game has a lot of potential but the added risk makes things difficult for directors and producers. Not everyone can live up to expectations. For example, the 1993 movie edition of Super Mario Bros was a complete flop. It is a perfect representation of how a bad movie doesn’t work. It doesn’t matter if the original video game is the most famous and the most liked all over the world. Nintendo would most probably like to correct their mistakes when the new animated Super Mario Bros comes out this year.

Most video game-based movies leave a lot of space for improvements. But if you are someone who prefers video games as a source of entertainment over movies, then bigwinwall.com would be the perfect place for you to look. They have an outstanding collection. Innumerable games, along with the chances of winning money if you win the game, make it the best option for you. And for those who still look for video game adaptations, here is a list of the best video game-adapted movies of all time.

    Lara Croft: Tomb Raider

    Warner Bros

Shortly after earning a prestigious Emmy to her name, Angelina Jolie took it upon herself to revive Lara Croft and her tales of bravery by stepping into her shoes. One of the greatest things about this movie is that Jolie’s co-star was her father, John Voight. The movie shows the adventure and Lara’s struggle for survival as she sets on an adventure around the world to find two missing pieces of an ancient artifact before the Illuminati gets their hands on it. The movie has a silly sequence and funny scenes and is overall an amazing watch. Of course, it needs not to be said, but the movie received more praise from gamers than movie critics. Despite the fallout with the critics, Lara Croft received so much applause from the viewers the sequel was destined to happen.

    Silent Hill

Written by Roger Avary of Pulp Fiction and directed by Christophe Gans, the director of Brotherhood of the Wolfs, Silent Hill, released in 2006 remains atmospherically the most dreadful video game-adapted movie to date. The story follows the journey of Rose (Radha Mitchell), who got into an accident and now is desperately in search of her adopted daughter in the eerily silent and fog-covered town of Silent Hill. The film is filled with jumpscares, psychological distortion, uneasiness, and monsters in every corner of the town. Silent Hill video game, despite its flat dialogues and obvious plot, remains the favorite of gamers because of its horror setting in the abandoned town and the best graphics and visual representation of a lot of things you can ever imagine.

    Resident Evil

With Milla Jovich roped in as Alice, the lead of the movie, the original Resident Evil movie is still the best movie the franchise has ever produced. It has left an ineradicable mark on the horror video game adaptation genre. The unbelievable and real-world representation of the Raccoon City and the deadly zombie ghouls residents of the city along with the horrifying and scream-worthy visuals similar to the video game, are some of the reasons that helped the movie perform the way it did, which led to the countless sequels as well. The premise of the movie shows Alice waking up with amnesia to fight an army of rabid zombies in an unlocated underground bunker. Apart from the brilliant premise, the way the movie mirrors the unbelievable survival gameplay is unparalleled.

    Mortal Kombat

According to many prominent critics, the 1995 installment of Mortal Kombat is the finest-ever video game-adapted movie. No wonder it is directed by W.S. Anderson, the same director who showed his magic and left the world flabbergasted with Monster Hunter. Anderson now is recalled as the best director when it comes to video game-adapted movies. Mortal Kombat successfully delivered on its promises made to the audience and its fans. Mortal Kombat was released when games like Street Fighter and Double Dragon were used and discarded the people. The way this movie honors the mythologies and the visual aesthetic of the combat scenes are far better than the most unbelievably expensive movies to date. This movie brilliantly displays the tournament-style fighting sequences set in a gory atmosphere.

    Conclusion

In terms of video game-based movies, there are a lot of great movies adapted from video games, but again, it’s not easy to direct these movies. The VFX, the visuals, and the animations are a major part of the reasons you like a videogame, and these when extracted and turned into a movie, need a lot of fine skills to pull it off. These are the 4 best movies adapted from video games that will stand up to your expectations.
