Gift-giving is an art, and as we inch closer to the 2023 holiday season, it helps to start thinking about some thoughtful presents you can give your special someone. Whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, or Christmas present, finding the right gift doesn’t have to be stressful. To help you out this year in your search for that perfect present, we put together this Gift Giving Guide 2023: Tips for Great Gifts, full of helpful hints on how to make clever choices when buying gifts! From conventional advice like making lists beforehand and shopping early to tips on personalizing your pick with meaningful keepsakes, we are here to help! So, read on and find out more about creative ways you can make that moment extra special in 2023.

    Personalized Gifts are Great

The first tip on this list for giving great gifts in 2023 is to consider purchasing a personalized gift. Did you know that in terms of receiving gifts, one of the highest-rated and most appreciated are those that are personalized or sentimental? This is probably because sentimental or personalized gifts help strengthen relationships between people.

More importantly, people place a lot more value on sentimentality than they do on monetary value. As such, if you are going to be buying a gift to try to make it personal or sentimental, check out Printed Memories. A few examples from their selection are custom star maps, custom photo books, and more.

    Don’t Gift Problems

The next tip on this list for gifting great gifts in 2023 would be to not have gift problems. You might not be aware of this, but there are some gifts that people don’t enjoy receiving. One of those gifts, and one that is considered to be one of the biggest problems, are coupons or gift cards.

The reason for this is that, although you might not imagine it, many people are very indecisive in terms of gifts, especially when the money is not theirs. One of the issues that gift cards create is a feeling of uncertainty since people have a lot of choices. Instead of giving a gift card to an entire mall, consider giving a gift card to that person’s favorite store, because guaranteed, there’s probably something there that they want—making it one of the most practical valentine’s day gift card ideas.

    Share an Experience

The next tip on this list for gift-giving would be to share an experience. As mentioned above, sentimental gifts are one of the most popular and most appreciated types of gifts. It just so happens that an experience, especially one that is shared, is considered sentimental since you are creating memories with the receiver. For example you could rent a Toronto party bus and have a great time together.

More importantly, some people are relatively well off or don’t have a lot of hobbies, and as such, they don’t like to receive gifts since they don’t need them. For these types of people, you can gift an experience and share it with them like a hot air balloon ride, since they will appreciate this much more than a gift that they will have no use for.

    Don’t Break the Bank

One of the most important tips on this list, if you want to give a great gift in 2023, would be to not break the bank. Did you know that people undervalue the value of a monetary gift? More importantly, expensive gifts don’t necessarily correlate to the amount of appreciation a person shows.

In addition to this, many people have actually said that they feel uncomfortable when they receive a very expensive gift since most of the time it comes with strings attached or an expectation to get a similarly expensive gift in the future.

    Write Down Their Hobbies

Finally, the last tip on this list for giving a great gift in 2023 would be to write down the hobbies of the person you are considering gifting. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to get them a gift for each of their hobbies. However, it is a very useful strategy.

All you need to do is get a piece of paper and write down a list of hobbies or interests that the person has. Then all you need to do is write down one gift for each of the hobbies or interests. If you do this ahead of time, you can sneakily find out more about the person’s hobbies by slipping in casual questions into the conversation and finding out what they are most interested in, and then choose a gift from the list that you have written down.
