Last night, the Golden Globe Awards returned in a big way. Not only was the troubled ceremony back to in-person, but the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) did make some strides to make changes. If you’ll recall, the Globes came under fire for not having a single Black journalist in their organization. Nor were they known for presenting or even nominating persons of color in their categories.

While it’s still a long road to grace, the 2023 Golden Globes was a good first step. It also kicked off Awards Season in a big way.

This morning, the 2023 SAG (Screen Actors Guild) released their list of nominations. “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and “The Banshees of Inisherin” tied with 5 nominations each. Considering how the Globes went, it’ll be interesting to see who comes home with the Actor statue.

The 29th annual SAG Awards will take place in Los Angeles on on February 26th, 2023. The ceremony will stream live on Netflix’s YouTube channel starting at 5pm (PST).

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
