It’s almost mind-boggling, but it’s true. Disneyland is celebrating it’s 100th Anniversary. And in classic Disney fashion, they’re celebrating with a spectacular party that’s sure to be one for the books. The parks already have a reputation for impeccable fireworks displays, parades, and shows. Their centennial celebration will likely top it all.

The anniversary show called will be called Wondrous Journeys. It will take patrons through the legacy of Disney animated films. Projections will appear on park landmarks like Sleeping Beauty’s castle, Rivers of America, and the façade of A Small World to name a few. This show is a tribute to Disney’s animated achievements across one hundred years. Guests will enjoy seeing specially crafted moments from fan favorites such as “Encanto,” “Treasure Planet,” “Moana,” and more.
To top it all off, we won’t be seeing Tinkerbell make her way over the park. INSTEAD, it’ll be everyone’s favorite inflatable robot, Baymax!
Openings Worthy of 100 Years
Opening alongside the celebration is a brand new ride in Toontown, the first in years. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is debuting as part of the anniversary. Based off the Mickey Mouse short of the same name in which Mickey and Minnie make their way to a picnic only to be whisked away by a runaway railcar that takes them to a world turned upside-down. Guests will ride the railcar and get the experience of a world where physics don’t apply!

The embarrassment of riches continues with a brand new World of Color in California Adventure, and the return of Disney After Dark. If there was ever a time to visit the park, it’s next year to take in everything new on offer!
Coined as Disney 100, the celebration will begin January 27th, 2023. Every Disney park across the world will celebrate in tandem. On top of what’s sure to be a spectacle unlike any other, Sleeping Beauty’s castle will get a centennial makeover with platinum flags. (Also, AMC is doing a special marathon of classic animated Disney films to celebrate!)
