Is it Difficult to Grow Medical Marijuana for Your Own Use?

Since the prices and regulations surrounding marijuana are not stable, many people have resorted to growing these plants in their homes. The advantages of this are numerous. You will beat the fluctuating marijuana prices and enjoy the extreme satisfaction of nurturing and getting high on your creation. It’s a win-win.

However, for so many growers, it’s not so simple. It’s easy to grow weed at home, but not so easy to grow quality weed. Although the plants require little attention, they grow in a highly regulated environment where there mustn’t be much of everything.

One major thing you must note before you start cultivating marijuana seeds for your use is that there are two types of marijuana: medical and recreational. In this article, we will discuss whether it is difficult to grow medical marijuana for your use and every other useful tip to help you get started.

    What is Medical Marijuana?

What is medical cannabis? You’re probably wondering what the difference is, what makes one strain a medical one, while the other is for recreational use.

Cannabis intended for medical use has more CBD compounds than recreational marijuana. It is opposed to recreational cannabis, which has more THC compounds than CBD. THC and CBD can be found in cannabis. They incite the euphoria in the body, but not in the same manner and degree. This is why they are so different.

THC is the main psychoactive compound present in cannabis. It is also called Tetrahydrocannabinol, and it seeps into the bloodstream, interacts with the endocannabinoid system, and induces some psychological effect entirely different from CBD. With CBD, Cannabinol, also found in the plant, this compound doesn’t induce as many psychological effects as THC.

Medical Marijuana has more CBD because this compound is used to treat a whole lot of medical issues without giving users the high or euphoric effect usually associated with cannabis.

Recreational cannabis has its health benefits, but instead of being rich in CBD, they have higher THC concentrations, which means users are more interested in the highs instead of the benefits or pain alleviation properties.

Tips to Growing Good Medical Marijuana For Your Use

It is not difficult to grow marijuana in the confines of your home. This plant is called weed, so you don’t have to worry too much about supplies. However, you must ensure that every factor is in place to grow quality plants. Here are some quick tips to help make this process an easy one:

    Indoor or Outdoor Growth

The best place to grow your plants is where you can get the right amount of moisture, air, and light. These properties are the most critical factors responsible for the growth of quality medical marijuana seeds, regardless of what cannabis variety you’re holding.

Usually, experienced growers love to do so indoors for the first few weeks of germination. This is because it allows them to control how many of these factors reach the plant. They can regulate the amount of plant watering, lighting, and room humidity. When planted outdoors, the worry about this is higher because you don’t have control of these environmental factors.

If you decide to plant your seeds indoors, set up a good irrigation system, a low lighting system, adequate temperature, and a growth medium.

    Select the Right Seeds

The key to growing the best medical cannabis is purchasing high CBD seeds from a reputable supplier. If you buy a low-quality seed, no care and attention can turn it into a quality plant after germination. If you’re looking for where to buy medical marijuana seeds, don’t try to pinch cost.

At the end of the day, when your plants grow adequately, you would no longer need to buy from a dispensary because you’d have your stash at home. Until then, ensure you go for seeds of the best genetics with high CBD.

    Kickstart your Germination Process Properly

Now that you’ve purchased your seeds, it’s time to start the cultivation process. Usually, you don’t plant your seeds in a growing medium right away. The biggest factor the seeds need at this stage is water. Properly planting your seeds at this point is another factor determining the quality of the results.

Marijuana seeds are fragile, so it’s important that you listen to their needs at every point. To kickstart this process, you can put these seeds in a cup of pure water, or wrap them in a damp paper towel until a root develops. When this root sprouts, you can now transfer to a growing medium.

Note that your plants do not need manure or fertilizer at this point because they have enough nutrients and energy to sustain themselves. Neither do they require light, so you can keep the towel or cup in a dark place. After transferring the plants to a growth medium, you can use proper lighting according to their needs.

Choose the Right Soil for Growing Medium

When replanting your seeds in a growing medium after the root has sprouted, one thing you should pay attention to is the soil. Loamy soil is the best for growing Marijuna because it is a perfect mix of all the other types of soil, so it possesses great qualities while minimizing the negative part.

Loam is optimally 20% clay, 40% slit, and 40% sand. Due to this combination, the soil is loose and light in texture, which is perfect for growth; it has great drainage, which means water doesn’t just pool on top of the soil and has good water retention ability.

    Humidity

The worst thing that can happen to your plants is an attack of molds or fungal infection. This would only happen when the plants are too humid and have poor airflow. When growing these medical marijuana plants, ensure you purchase a hygrometer to keep the humidity level balanced.

Moreover, ensure that there is cross ventilation and good airflow in and improper. An attack of molds can kill your plants or stunt their growth, affecting their taste and potency.

    Water

Another important step is setting up a good irrigation system, so your plants do not lack water. As much as water and moisture is critical, there is a rule of thumb that every grower must follow. Don’t overdo it.

Watering your plants every couple of days is enough, especially when using great loamy soil with superb water retention abilities. As long as you can still feel the moisture in the soil, it doesn’t need more. When the soil feels dry to the touch, then you can water them again.

    Conclusion

If you’re just getting into the world of Cannabis cultivation, the best advice is to take it slow. Growing high-quality plants require lots of patience, learning, and relearning. It’s okay not to get it right the first time, but experience is the best teacher. With time, you will become more knowledgeable about deciphering what the plants require at every point.

It is important to note that plants are living organisms, so they will always give you signs when they lack certain things. For instance, medical marijuana leaves become droopy and yellow when they lack enough water. Just do your research, keep practicing, and soon this will be as easy as ABC.
