    Report: “Wonder Woman 3” Dead in the Water at DC Studios

    We’re sorry to say, but it seems like the 3rd Patty Jenkins-helmed “Wonder Woman” film will NOT happen. This story comes from multiple sources, one of which being The Hollywood Reporter.

    Apparently a treatment for “Wonder Woman 3” was submitted by Jenkins (co-written by Geoff Johns). THR says their sources indicate co-CEOs of DC Studios James Gunn and Peter Safran, along with WB brass Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy thought the project “did not fit in with the new (but still unfolding) plans.”

    This could be due to several reasons; chief among them likely the poor reception to “Wonder Woman 1984.” The film was a casualty of Covid-19, and was unceremoniously dumped on HBO Max during the height of movie theater shutdowns. That said, the film was also…disappointing.

    Once again starring Gal Gadot as Diana aka Wonder Woman, “WW 84” struggled to find it’s identity. The casting of Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig was wasted with a sub-par script. There were good ideas to be sure, but on the whole, the film never found the power of the first “Wonder Woman.”

    With a major restructuring happening at Warner Bros. Pictures’ DC Studios, we’re not surprised to see a project like this get the axe. But here’s hoping it’s not the end for one of the only truly female-fronted superhero franchises from the big kids.
