Sometimes things can get out of hand at concerts. We all know this, and it’s not unusual to see someone a bit too tipsy climbing the stage and harassing the performers. Obviously, this is potentially dangerous for the band, crashers, and the audience collectively. This was a lesson quickly learned at a show in Melbourne, Australia when a would-be crasher’s face met the business end of The Black Crowes’ Rich Robinson‘s Telecaster guitar.
The presence of the crasher clearly infuriates the performers. A large man in a maroon shirt staggers across the stage. He throws one security guard off the stage and slips past another. He snags on Robinson’s mic stand. But Rich had enough by this point. He slips off his guitar and sharply prods the bottom of it into the neck and face area of the crasher. He’s joined shortly by brother Chris Robinson, who looks ready to use his mic stand as a lance. Maroon shirt gets the picture and finally backs off, rejoining the crowd.
Chris seems to have significantly choice words for the crasher, telling him off as he oozes back into the crowd. But the time and effort spent for 15 second of fame hardly seems worth it. Apparently it’s happening with an annoying frequency. Rage Against The Machine, Show Me The Body, and Lil Uzi Vert concerts have also been frustrated by crashers recently. It’s not nearly as impressive, nor is it as cool as you think. Maybe next time you feel smashed enough to rush the stage, rush for some water instead. Take a minute to sober up and give some thought to who you’re inconveniencing.
