For those planning a trip to Japan, we have a destination to add to your itinerary. Studio Ghibli’s theme park was announced in 2019, and released some stunning concept art. A new mashup of a dozen Japanese news broadcasts gives us a glimpse of what the park actually looks like.
The park is beautiful and showcases many fan favorites of Studio Ghibli’s films. There’s a Totoro house that’s built just like the home in the movie as well as a few different Cat Buses that children and adults can play inside. Several dioramas you can pose in, including one where you’re catching Sheeta who’s falling from the sky emulating the iconic scene in “Castle in the Sky.”
This is a rare and exciting look inside the theme park. When Studio Ghibli had their exhibit in the Academy Museum in Los Angeles, visitors were not allowed to take pictures inside. We’re not sure if the same rules will apply to the theme park, we hope not. But if you really want to see everything it offers we do encourage you to go in person.
They will also have an enormous gift shop so you may even want to plan a day just doing that. Check out the video below and see if you can catch all the references to the films! It may take you a few watches but we guarantee it’s worth it! Learn more about Ghibli Park here.
Ghibli Park is officially open to the public starting November 1st, 2022.
