Skybound Confirms “Invincible” Getting Video Game

Skybound Entertainment has announced “Invincible” is getting a video game. Exactly what kind of game remains to be seen, but it is happening. Skybound is excited to be expanding “Invincible”‘s universe into as many media outlets as possible. Amazon Prime Video’s animated series proved to be wildly popular with it’s violent, gritty perspective on super humans and their villains. And a live-action film has been cooking since 2017. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series, Skybound announced a slew of memorabilia- re-released comics, apparel, tabletop and video games – coming in 2023.

You’re Getting a Game, Guys! “Invincible,” Amazon Prime Video

There’s a lot of possibilities for the series as a video game. A fighting game fits well given the number of characters and creative playstyles that could be employed. Given that games like “Mortal Kombat” exist with highly stylized violence, “Invincible” would have a comfortable home there. But an open-world game, or even a choice-based point-and-click — a la Telltale — would work well. We’ll be curious and excited to see what waits for the series on the console side of nerd culture.

Super hero games are no stranger to being adapted to video games. The Arkham games of the Batman franchise are still highly rated and immensely popular. And “Marvel’s Spider-Man” was the darling of many a console last year. If the cards are played right, “Invincible” will have no trouble finding its feet with gamers.
