When you were a kid, one of the most exciting moments was hearing “Let’s have McDonald’s”. The joy of being a kid meant you got that special red box with a meal and toy inside. Now adults can return to that special feeling as McDonald’s rolls out Adult Happy Meals. With a few changes, of course.
Touting the fancy title of The Cactus Plant Flea Market Box, this is sized for an adult. A combo of a Big Mac or 10-piece chicken nuggets with a soda and fries. Of course, the pièce de résistance is the toy. We never lose our love for a surprise piece of molded plastic. Especially if it rolls or transforms! Just like the meal, the toys will be more adult. Inside will be one of four collectible figurines of the old mascots. Hamburglar, Grimace, Birdie, and a Cactus Buddy from the partnered company.
Added to the pot is a limited line of clothing and merch available here, and will be available Monday the 3rd at 11AM for those that want the merch, but not the meal.
McDonald’s is no stranger to promotional partnering. Just recently, they partnered with BTS for a limited line of chicken nuggets. But chief marketing officer Tariq Hassan wants this to mean more to adult consumers.
“We’re taking one of the most nostalgic McDonald’s experiences and literally repackaging it in a new way that’s hyper-relevant for our adult fans”.
We all know the effects nostalgia can have when done right. There’s a novelty to the way these Happy Cactus Meals are being packaged which keeps it fresh. But if someone could put a word in to bring back the costumed chicken nuggets, we’d be extra sold, Mickey Ds!
