We are delighted to share the first trailer for the upcoming “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” film! The trailer was revealed during the “Dungeons & Dragons” panel at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). Obviously, the crowd went wild!

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley direct. The film stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, Daisy Head, and Hugh Grant. “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” is set to roll into theaters on March 3rd, 2023.

The cast chatted with EW ahead of storming the castle that is Hall H.

They also showed off their tabletop credentials. Pine said ““If there’s one game that should be played in every high school, it’s D&D. The jocks, the nerds- I speak in John Hughes terms- the bullies- they can all play together and have a laugh. I saw it so distinctly, and I want to spread the gospel of DND.”

Rodriguez also found it to be a blast from the past, saying “You don’t grow up in Jersey and not play DND, man. I haven’t played in 20 years, but it took me right back to being 15, 16.”

Pine will be a bard (we love it, there was a flute) and apparently has a bit of rogue in him in real life as he took “a bunch of stuff from the set.” Rodriguez will be a barbarian and absolutely took her axe. Grant was also amongst the collectors ““For many years, I always take home a couple of extras. I’ve got quite a few, quite pretty ones. In my dungeon.”

Also, Grant says the script has a “real “Monty Python” feel” in a very positive way. As for Page he posited that “If Leroy Jenkins was a class, that’d be me.”

Fear not though, in terms of fidelity to the lore, one of the directors noted that ““Dozens of monsters and creatures, and dozens and dozens of spells that are all accurate to the lore. We worked with wizards of the coast to make sure everything was in line with the lore.”

There will also be lots of treats and easter eggs in store. “There is at least one cameo of a well-known DnD player. We’re such huge fans of Critical Role. That’s all we can say.”

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
