Keanu Reeves Wants to Play an Older Batman

Keanu Reeves says somewhere down the line, he’d like to play an older Batman. But he doesn’t want to step on Robert Pattinson‘s toes of course. “The Matrix” star thinks Pattinson is doing a great job right now, and he wouldn’t want to impede on that. But, if Warner Bros. were ever looking for another older Batman, then he’s totally up for it.

Fans of “Batman Beyond” are already picturing Keanu Reeves as Old Man Bruce. Or at least I do, in my head.

    Warner Bros.

Keanu Reeves was out promoting “DC League of Super-Pets” during the preview showing when it was brought up. “It’s always been a dream, but Pattinson’s got Batman right now and he’s doing awesome, so maybe down the road,” Reeves told EXTRA. “Maybe when they need an older Batman.”

[Editor’s note: Michael Keaton, who played Batman in Tim Burton‘s two films, is returning to the role for “The Flash.” So, WB already has an older Batman currently. Not that we wouldn’t want to see Keanu do it too!]

Ace and Bruce Wayne, “Batman Beyond”

We know that there will at least be one more Batman film with Pattinson as lead. Hopefully more than that because Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” has been the best Batman film in a long time. Fans would like to see that go on for at least a little while. That doesn’t mean Reeves couldn’t play an older Bruce Wayne in a separate story though. Terry McGinnis could be a fresh face.

Kevin Smith mentioned wanting Keaton to fill the role previously, but I still think Reeves would be a better fit. Plus, it would be a great stretch for him as he generally doesn’t get to play the grumpy old man and is often seen as stoic or zen. And we all know how he feels about dogs.

“DC League of Super-Pets” premieres July 29th, 2022.
