Is Blockchain-Based Instant Messaging The Next Big Thing?

Being concerned about personal data on instant messaging platforms is nothing new. A centralized system operates most chatting apps, and the personal information is stored with the company. Incomplete contrast, blockchain technology is a decentralized system, offering a higher level of protection to user data.

Blockchain solutions have multiple applications, one of which is instant messaging. The advanced blockchain technology has real-world applications which allow users to chat with added security. Seeing a complete replacement in the near future will not be a far-fetched concept. You can refer to apps like ChatOnBlockchain to get a fast, private, and secured messaging experience.

What Should You Know About Blockchain Instant Messaging

The need for socializing is not going anywhere, but there has been an increased awareness about personal security. The instant messaging applications based on blockchains use peer-to-peer protocols.

It can also do away with the need for backups since it is built on a decentralized platform. Since a chat history will depend on a node or a device, it can be easily reconstructed by looking at other users’ devices. Since blockchain technology is already being used for safe transactions and information storage, the data can be stored more securely on an IM platform built on a blockchain.

It will also provide protection like end-to-end encryption does but on a better scale because no user data is being compromised or manipulated.

    Benefits of Blockchain Instant Messaging

The biggest benefit of blockchain technology across different applications is that it offers added safety from cyber attacks. On any centralized system, the information is stored in one place. It creates a physical place hackers can enter and steal user data.

The same technology which makes sharing and transactions of cryptocurrency easier will be used to project breaches in the system and read sensitive chats. Another benefit is the lack of scamming on these apps.

There have been cases of fraud where people have gotten money from unsuspecting victims. One can know the location of the instant message they are receiving, which gives an added sense of security.

Additionally, cases of mistaken identity would be reduced because one will only be talking with people they know. It will be easier to use for individuals and businesses for transactions and sharing important information. Instant messaging services can also tighten their safety protocols for a better user experience.

The usual security features one expects from a safe website are also present. There will be two-factor authentication if the user, along with end-to-end encryption.

Other methods can be added to the safety depending on the improvement in technology and the platform on which the decentralized app is built.

    Added Security

The current instant messaging services are limited. Adder security is only offered through blockchain because of a decentralized network. Because of the high level of security, the applications can be expanded to bigger businesses and financial institutions. Platforms like ChatOnBlockchain offer comprehensive waves of keeping their correspondence impenetrable from cyber attacks.

Centralized systems require connection to a particular system placed physically in a geographical location. It is easy to stay connected with the people you are talking through on a decentralized network. The users will only require one app to connect with people anywhere.

    The Takeaway

Blockchain-based instant messaging services can be the next big thing, but only when more people adopt it. It is still in the development process where people are exploring the safety features and shining the functionality. The added security measures are perfect for protecting against data breaches. User data is most vulnerable to hackers. Exchanging information will work similarly, but there would be better ways to secure personal information.
