The stuff of nightmares, truly. It’s been literal years since large-scale events have happened without some measure of crowd control. It seems like popular annual anime convention Anime Expo (AX) had some issues this morning with an overwhelming number of attendees all trying to get in at the same time.
According to Anime News Network (and several other online sources), the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) and Fire Marshall halted attendees entering the event around 9:44am (PST).
Doors for Day 1 (July 1st) were supposed to open at 8am, so our theory of this was the line queuing to get in isn’t accurate.
The event is requiring proof of full Covid vaccination and/or a negative test, as well as full face coverings for all attendees.
