Are you someone who is completely immersed in the horse racing culture and fascinated by everything it has to offer? Do you want to know which celebrities own their very own racehorses?

Do you know what the three most popular spectator sports in the world are? If you guessed football, basketball, and baseball, then you would be correct. However, what about horse racing? Believe it or not, this ancient sport is still one of the most popular pastimes in the world. And with so many great betting sites available which you can learn more about at British Racecourses, horse racing is never dull.

Many celebrities own racehorses and participate in this exciting activity. From royalty to A-list movie stars, read on to learn more about some of the most famous people who love to race their horses.

    The Queen of England

Something that comes with absolutely no surprise whatsoever is that the queen of England owns her very own racehorses. Some to note is that The Queen has been a racehorse owner for even longer than she has been the actual Queen of England, and that is quite something.

In 1953, she inherited her father’s breeding and racing stock which has now led her to become the most successful racehorse owner worldwide. Over the years it is said that she has made over 7 million pounds in winning. Out of the 2830 races her 100 horses have run in the last year, they won approximately 450 of them, making her incredibly successful.

    Judi Dench

Moving on down our list, the next high-profile name that we will look at when it comes to owning racehorses is none other than Dame Judi Dench. Dame Judy Dench is an academy award-winning actress but this is not the only industry that which she has made a name for herself.

For a very long time, debt has been affiliated with the world of horse racing, and this all sparked from interest as a child growing up. One of her current most famous horses is known by the name of As De Mee who she Co-owns.

She owns many other incredible races and has owned many more in the past that have been very successful and made her horse racing career soar to new heights.

    Alex Ferguson

Next up on our list of celebs that own racehorses is Sir Alex Ferguson. The ex-Manchester United boss most famously owns the horse Rock of Gibraltar which won the 2002 European horse of the year. This horse has managed to earn over 1.1 million pounds in earnings which is a major win for him.

Not only has he owned this beautiful racehorse, but others such as Give Me A Copper who was said to race at the Grand National, and his most recent winner, Clan Des Obeaux.

    Liz Hurley

Moving on down our list the next celeb who owns racehorses is the former girlfriend of British star, Hugh Grant, known as Liz Hurley. She is known to be a regular at the different races around the world, so it is no surprise that she has a racehorse of her own.

She first got into the sport in 2009 and has since owned many well-known horses and has even sold off one of her fastest for breeding purposes for a hefty sum of 500 000 pounds.

    Wayne Rooney

Last but not least, the final celebrity on our list of royalty and A-Listers who own racehorses, is Wayne Rooney. Well known as the Manchester United and England record goals keeper, this man used to be very involved in horse racing, to the point where he owned a racehorse of his own.

He has owned several racehorses over the years, including some of the most popular: Switcharoony and Pippy. Although they did not win as much as one might have hoped, they were very successful. However, a year later, Rooney sold his horses and relinquished ownership.

It comes as no surprise that so many A-listers and celebrities own such incredible horses and there are likely to be many more in the future.
