As a mother to a young child, I say this with a sigh of relief- kids under 5 can finally get the Covid-19 vaccine! To show children the process isn’t scary, “Sesame Street” star Elmo (aged 3) has gotten his shot. While some kids might be scared, teaching them it won’t hurt for long might help. Either that, or distract the heck out of them, your choice.
Children ages 6 months through 5 years of age are now approved to receive either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines to better protect them from COVID-19, even if they have previously tested positive or been exposed. The CDC has has also cleared children to have other age-related vaccines at the same time. This means the various annual shots required for children can be administered at the same appointment.
Big Bird was also vaccinated when children under 12 were able to get the vaccine.
“Sesame Street” releasing these videos really does help parents. For one thing, it reminds them that they can vaccinate their kids. So excuse me now while I go make an appointment for mine.
You can catch new episodes of “Sesame Street” on HBO Max.
