Unlike most other “Lord of the Rings“ games, “The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria” will be focused on dwarves. Rather than dragon fighting or hunting orcs, players will be creating a home to call their own and make mighty armor to beat down invaders.

Free Range Games is developing the title.
From the official announcement, players will “take control of a company of Dwarves tasked to reclaim the lost spoils from the Dwarven homeland of Moria-known as Khazad-dûm or Dwarrowdelf-in the depths below their very feet. Their quest will require fortitude, delving deep into the Mines of Moria to recover its treasures.”
We Go Down Together
“Return to Moria” is multiplayer, where friends work together to make and share materials. This take on “Lord of the Rings” definitely stands out from most previous games set in that world. The most successful titles, such as “Shadow of Mordor,” focus on pure action. “Return to Moria” looks to offer a different take that might interest people who grew up on “Minecraft” and “Fortnite.”

You can take a look at a preview trailer below. The trailer captures the spirit of “Lord of the Rings,” it is still a teaser that only hints at how the game plays. There is not a sense of the combat system or what you do with the gear you make. Hopefully, we will soon see if this will something with enough variety to justify the digging.
“The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria” will be available exclusively on PC via the Epic Games Store when it launches in Spring 2023. You can add it to your wishlist now.
