Cheez-It, Pandora Team Up for Hip-Hop Sonically-Aged Cheese

Yes you read that title correctly. Cheez-It and Pandora have partnered to make a snack with cheese that has been sonically aged by the power of music.

The whole thing began back in 2019 with a study from Switzerland where cheesemaker Beat Wampfler joined researchers from the Bern University of Arts. Their goal? To see if different types of music aged cheese differently. The conclusion is yes, yes it does. Out of the 9 separate 22 lbs. blocks of cheese tested, hip-hop was by far the tastiest.

Upon finding this study, Cheez-It called in music experts from Pandora. They set out to find songs similar the the ones used in the study. The goal being to create the first ever sonically-aged snack. And since it’s Cheez-It, of course it has to be real cheese.

Fast forward to the present day, and the companies have just announced the limited edition Cheez-It x Pandora Aged by Audio.

“After six months in the making, we’re thrilled to finally share this absurdly delicious collaboration with our fans,” Senior marketing director of Cheez-It, Erin Storm explained. “Our innovations team is always exploring new ways to bring more unique experiences to our fans, and Cheez-It x Pandora Aged by Audio is the perfect way to provide our dedicated fans with a truly first-of-its-kind snack while celebrating the joy music brings.”

They even brought in SiriusXM radio host (and Cheez-It enthusiast) Sway Calloway for a new YouTube series called “Living Legendz”. The series will revolve around  interviews with hip-hop icons who have helped shape the industry. “This collaboration is the perfect mix of my favorite things: hip-hop music, wild innovation and Cheez-It,” Calloway said. “Hip-hop has influenced many lives, so I’m looking forward to seeing if fans can taste the effect of the most beloved genre of music in the world on these crackers.” It will debut on May 26 2022.

In addition to everything else, Cheez-It is offering a free 90-day Pandora Premium trial. Only for eligible customers that purchase the limited-edition product.

These will go live at CheezItHQ.com on May 26 at 12 pm (EST). On the same day, they will also be releasing the Aged by Audio mixtape. The mixtape will have the music used to make the cheese. It will be available via CheezItHQ.com, the Pandora app, and Pandora’s website.
