It’s never easy dealing with the sudden death of a friend or family member. Even harder for someone who was taken much too soon. Markelle Morrow, better known as Rapper Goonew, was shot on March 18th in a parking lot in Prince George’s County, Maryland. His family thinks that he was the victim of an armed robbery, and there is currently a reward in place from the Prince George’s County Police Department. He was just 24 years old.

To celebrate his life, the family had his corpse embalmed and put on display at Bliss Nightclub in Washington, D.C. on April 3rd. The event was billed as the rapper’s “final show,” and friends and family came to see him off.

He was wearing a crown and designer clothing.

“Our deepest condolences to Goonew’s family, friends, and fans,” the club stated to XXL. “Bliss was contacted by a local funeral home to rent out our venue for Goonew’s home-going celebration. Bliss was never made aware of what would transpire. We sincerely apologize to all those who may be upset or offended. Please keep Goonew’s family and friends in your prayers at this difficult time. Respectfully, Bliss DC.”

The entry passes to the club called it a “celebration of life.” And as black_fortune says on Instagram, “As long as his mother was happy that’s all that matters.”

If anything this is one for the record books, even if Goonew is now to be remembered as the rapper who was propped up like “Weekend at Bernie’s” so that he could attend his own funeral.
