Jared Leto, Anne Hathaway Star in WeWork Series “WeCrashed”

Take a look at Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway in Apple TV+’s WeWork series, “WeCrashed.” The Oscar winners star as WeWork husband and wife duo Adam Neumann and Rebekah Neumann. The Neumanns and WeWork have already been the subject of multiple documentaries and podcasts. The series is based on a Wondery podcast.

Leto is back with an overly dramatic accent (similar to his recent turn in “House of Gucci”). Meanwhile, Hathaway is doing her best to channel the woo-ness that is Rebekah. WeWork the company was founded as a shared working space targeted at small businesses and freelancers. They sold the dream of community with extravagant parties and promised perks. Watch Hulu’s “WeWork: Or the Making and Breaking of a $47 Billion Unicorn” for a glimpse at the wild company culture. Including trips to the mandatory company retreat aka Summer Camp.

    We Try to Go Public

The company tried to go public in 2019 with disastrous results. Many of which centered around Adam Neumann. Also, Adam also disclosed he personally profited millions by selling the trademarks back to the company, and broke the IPO quiet period.

Japanese tech investment fund SoftBank (which is run by a friend of Neumann’s) saved the company… Oh and paid Adam $1.7 billion to step down.

Questionable business scruples aside, the Neumanns also were quite the personalities unto themselves. They’ve been likened to cult leaders. Rebekah leaned heavily on astrological intuition – supposedly firing people if they gave off bad vibes.

The list of the couple’s questionable behavior goes on and on. We expect they’ll be quite the meaty roles for Leto and Hathaway to sink their teeth into in “WeCrashed.”

AppleTV+ describes the show with: The series is inspired by actual events — and the love story at the center of it all. WeWork grew from a single coworking space into a global brand worth $47 billion in under a decade. Then, in less than a year,  its value plummeted. What happened?

“WeCrashed” premieres on March 18th, 2022 on Apple TV+.
