Don’t worry folks, we ARE still getting that beautiful adaptation of Agatha Christie‘s “Death on the Nile” from Kenneth Branagh. True, this Hercule Poirot (Branagh) sequel was supposed to be out…two years ago? But it’s still coming, and we can’t wait. This morning, 20th Century Studios released a new trailer for the gorgeous star-studded film.
The cast includes such names as Gal Gadot, Tom Bateman, Annette Bening, Gal Gadot, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright.
If you’ll recall, Hammer was at the center of a bizarre and terrible series of allegations regarding some truly disturbing things. Like cannibalism and rape, for starters. He’s largely been removed from other projects, and dropped by studios. Except for apparently, Disney, who owns 20th Century Studios after purchasing Fox.
Anyhow….”Death on the Nile” looks so incredibly lush. Probably because of the 65mm Panavision cameras director Branagh used to capture the real-world locations that inspired Christie’s 1937 novel.
“Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot’s Egyptian vacation aboard a glamorous river steamer turns into a terrifying search for a murderer when a picture-perfect couple’s idyllic honeymoon is tragically cut short. Set against an epic landscape of sweeping desert vistas and the majestic Giza pyramids, this dramatic tale of love gone wrong features a cosmopolitan group of impeccably dressed travelers and enough wicked twists and turns to leave audiences guessing until the final, shocking denouement.”
“Death on the Nile” is set to hit theaters on February 11th, 2022.
