Friends, pals and confidants–get ready to laugh your way through a first-of-its-kind, weekend-long classic TV comedy fan gathering! That’s how the page that introduces you to the first ever “The Golden Girls” convention reads. It’s crazy that it’s taken so long to do something like this, but now that it’s here, we won’t complain. April 22nd-24th, 2022 we’ll be able to celebrate our love of “The Golden Girls” with like minded individuals.

    “Picture it….Chicago, April 2022.”

People became enamored with re-runs and bloc parties of the comedy, originally filmed 1985 to 1992. Dorothy (Bea Arthur), Blanche (Rue McClanahan), Rose (Betty White), and Sophia (Estelle Getty) all made their mark on the world, and while only one of them is still with us, they will forever be remembered as the original best friends.

    Where is Golden-Con?

Golden-Con is coming to Chicago, IL and will be inviting ALL the fans. They have two venues listed- Center on Halsted, and Sidetrack. Golden-Con is happening in Northalsted. The area is a famous LGBTQ+ nightlife district and has tons of things to do after the con.

    What to look forward to:

They have some very fun events listed and tie ins to the show. The vendor’s market isn’t JUST the vendors market, it’s the “Greatest Gift” Vendors Market. They will have live parody shows from the Hell in a Handbag Theater Company, a costume parade, trivia and a whole lot more. They’re still adding to their guest list but their ultimate get is Betty White. As of this writing she has not yet been confirmed. Currently they are promoting show writer and producer Stan Zimmerman. He will be there to recount all the bts stories he was privy to while the show was in production.

Additional Events, Performers, and special guest appearances will be announced in the months and weeks leading up to the convention. Tickets go on sale in the near future and different ticket levels will have different options for events.

Keep an eye on the official convention website for more upcoming news and announcements. And of course to grab your tickets at ThankYouForBeingAFan, when they go on sale.
