These days, you can easily buy marijuana across the United States or UK. Every state here is known to have introduced laws determining its usage. This drug has been legalized for medical usage by over two thirds of the states including District of Columbia. Others are planning to follow. The FDA is known to have approved this drug to help cure to severe and rare epilepsy forms. These are Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome.

Why research is still to be carried out on marijuana for medical usage?

One major reason cited is that that DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) considers this drug as Schedule I drug. Hence it is teamed with ecstasy, LSD and heroin. The chances of this drug being abused are quite high. It might also lack in medical value. Marijuana could probably be reclassified as Schedule II drug similar to Oxycodone or Ritalin. This is however under consideration by the DEA. But still then, it is kept under Schedule I drug. You may buy marijuana if medically recommended by your doctor.

The DEA agency however acknowledged the need for additional research on this drug. This is because doctors may advise their patients safely for curing various types of health ailments.

What to know about medical marijuana?

Before you plan to buy marijuana, be it from offline or online stores, you need to know more about this drug. Medical marijuana uses chemicals or plants to treat various conditions or diseases. Basically, it is the same product like recreational marijuana, however, used for medical purposes.

The plant is known to contain 100+ types of chemicals referred to as cannabinoids. Each one is known to have different types of effects upon the body. The main chemicals like CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) are used in medicine. A ‘high’ is produced by THC to produce that feel of eating foods containing marijuana or smoking it.

    Medical Marijuana and its usage

Researchers have been trying to determine if medical marijuana can cure a variety of health conditions like:

    • Appetite loss
    • Alzheimer’s disease
    • Crohn’s disease
    • Cancer
    • Eating disorders like anorexia
    • Diseases that affects the body’s immune system such as MS (Multiple Sclerosis) or HIV/AIDS.
    • Glaucoma
    • Epilepsy
    • Multiple sclerosis
    • PTSD (Posttraumatic stress disorder) and Schizophrenia
    • Nausea
    • Muscle spasms
    • Seizures
    • Pain
    • Cachexia (wasting syndrome)

Some states allow people to buy marijuana for medical purposes provided they have valid prescriptions offered by their doctor.

The drug is well-known for its therapeutic effects. It can help reduce vomiting, nausea and chronic pain resulting from chemotherapy. It also cures spasticity (stiff or tight muscles) caused by MS.

Why buy marijuana and how it helps?

Medical marijuana has an active chemical in it, referred to as Cannabinoids. It is quite similar to the body’s naturally produced chemicals involved in pain, movement, memory and appetite.

Canabinoids as per researches conducted can help with the following:

    • Provide relief to pain
    • Reduce inflammation
    • Reduce anxiety
    • Slow down tumor growth and destroy cancer cells
    • Control vomiting and nausea arising from cancer chemotherapy
    • Stimulate appetite as well as improve weight gain among people suffering from AIDS and Cancer

Can seizure disorders be cured with medical marijuana?

A decade back, medical marijuana gained attention when parents found that a special drug helps their children to control seizure attack. Recently, the FDA had approved Epidiolex, prepared from CBD as therapy for those experiencing hard-to-treat to severe seizure attacks. Studies conducted showed that people taking this drug have reported significant drop in seizures. The FDA has approved people with valid doctor prescriptions to buy marijuana legally for medical usage.
