    Kristen Chenoweth, Idina Menzel to host “Wicked in Concert” On PBS

    If you loved Broadway musical “Wicked,” get ready for a real treat. Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel will host a special “Wicked in Concert” on PBS@ The two starred in the musical that played for over 60 million people and brought in a whopping $5 billion in global sales. This show is going to be “Popular!”

    The full cast includes Mario Cantone, Gavin Creel, Ariana DeBose, Cynthia Erivo, Stephanie Hsu, Rita Moreno, Jennifer Nettles, Alex Newell, Isaac Powell, Amber Riley, Gabrielle Ruiz and Ali Stroker.

    For those who never got to see the show in person but love the music, this performance is sure to be a real treat. The Broadway show premiered in 2003 with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. The book was by Winnie Holzman and was based on Gregory Maguire‘s novel that reimagined characters from “The Wizard of Oz.” The muscial was a worldwide phenomenon and the fifth longest running play in history, winning 3 Tony Awards.

    This concert will have filming crews in different locations broadcasting the performances. They will film in places like New York and Los Angeles along with others. Directing this concert is Baayork Lee. The concert will feature original arrangements never before heard created by music director and conductor Luke Frazier. This will be an event you won’t want to miss!

    PBS will broadcast “Wicked in Concert” on all their streaming platforms and channels on August 29th at 9pm (EST). That means you can watch it on PBS, PBS.org and the PBS Video App!
