When looking for media streaming devices for non-android TV, mostly we’ve two devices to deal with – Firestick and Roku. These are one of the best services available on the current market from bigger companies like Amazon, Roku Inc. Moreover, they are people’s loved ones.

If you’re on this page means that you’re struggling to decide which device to use for your Smart TV. But don’t worry, I will help you to choose which one is best for you and why.

In this guide, we will compare these two devices with complete details so that you can easily find out if you prefer Firestick or Roku TV. Let’s get into the comparison section.

    Overview of Firestick and Roku

Amazon’s firestick is a handy streaming gadget that converts any regular TV into Android TV. With this, you can access apps like Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Aha, Disney+ Hotstar, and more. You can download and install any kind of apps to your TV from the Play Store or third-party stores.

The major use case for Amazon Firestick is watching the latest movies and tv shows at no cost. Jailbroken Firestick gives you access to unlimited entertainment stuff. These days people prefer to use Moviebox Pro APK to jailbreak their Fire TV for a responsible price.

Apart from this, the latest edition of Firestick comes with an Alexa voice remote and easy TV controlling options. When compared to the old edition, the 2020th edition is fully upgraded and added with lots of features.

    How does Firestick work?

Like any other streaming device, Firestick just needs a smart tv with an HDMI port to connect and you can watch movies on Firestick for hours on end.

With HDMI connectivity, Firestick can stream up to 4K at 60 fps. Please make a note that If your TV doesn’t have an HDMI port then it’s useless to buy.

Once you connect both devices properly then you are good to go, download your favorite applications and enjoy.

Roku is an all-in-one streaming player owned and operated by “Happy Stream™” that provides home entertaining stuff including streaming apps, movies, series, and also live tv channels.

Just like the Amazon Fire TV stick, Roku is also a portable device with remote control. Easy to connect, one-click button to add channels, and inbuilt search engine to find content.

Roku offers thousands of free channels to their users, it helps the people who can’t spend money on premium channels.

    How does Roku Work?

The content played on Roku is their own media content, and takes all the legal rights to stream from. More importantly, we can’t jailbreak or tweak Roku as it is running with Roku OS. The only possible options are casting and screen mirroring from mobiles. Nowaday, most of the users are using a Filmplus on Roku via Allcast, when a user account is inactive mode. It’s kind of a tiny tweak.

If you already have cut the cord and are searching for a good alternative to cable then Roku might be a great choice for you. Where you can explore TV channels from news, sports, games, podcasts, shows, HD movies, music, animation videos, etc.

Setting up the Roku stick is easy; Plug the Roku device to the TV’s HDMI port, make sure your TV is connected with a strong Internet connection. Now, create an account for Roku by just following screen steps. Once you’ve done set up then get started with Roku for streaming.

Firestick or Roku? Which is one better for your TV

As you can see in the comparison, both devices are identical and have similar features. But firestick has more advantages when it comes to jailbreaking for free entertainment content. You can sideload third-party video streaming apps to your firestick using the Downloader app or Pendrive/hard disk.

Of course, jailbreaking firestick is not necessary for all users. If you have premium streaming services like Netflix, Aha, Prime Video, Hulu, Pluto TV, SonyLiv then use them for an amazing experience.

You must use an IPTV service to watch live tv channels on firestick.

But, if you prefer cord-cutting completely, don’t take much time to look around, then stick with Roku. Because, it sources all the video streams – the latest news and sports, kids, and family content from top channels.

Either way, both are very good services, I recommend you try them out for yourself before deciding.

    Conclusion
