Every so often, it feels good to focus on the positive things in life. We received word this morning that basketball legend Charles Barkley donated $1,000 to every employee of his former high school, Leeds City Schools. The school reportedly has approximately 226 employees!

TMZ first broke this story on Twitter this morning. According to them, this is not the first example of Mr. Barkley’s kindness and generosity. The former NBA superstar has quietly donated more than three million dollars in scholarships over the past three decades. The onset of Covid 19 led to his donation of several laptops and WiFi hotspots for students. He also helped with a special partnership with Clorox to donate cleaning supplies keeping the school disinfected for most of the year.

Leeds City Schools thanked Mr Barkley this morning:

“We are humbled and wish to express our sincere gratitude to Charles Barkley for providing a $1,000 gift to each and every Leeds City Schools employee for going the extra mile this school year.”

Covid-19 has made circumstances difficult for everyone. High Schools have it especially rough trying to stay safe while educating children. Not to mention the impact it has had on sports! We are proud to see such philanthropy from generous individuals such as Charles Barkley and wish him all the best.
