We’ve sorta been wondering when Disney+ might add the fabulous 1997 version of Rodger and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” to the library. This is the one that features the late great Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother, and Brandy Norwood in the title role.
Talk about a blast from the past that we absolutely cannot wait to see on the House of Mouse streaming service. This will be the first time the musical will be available on any streaming service.
When the adaptation released during the Wonderful World of Disney in 1997, it garnered a whopping 7 Emmy nominations, and took home the trophy for art direction for a variety or music program.
Just lookit the cast, which included Whoopi Goldberg, Victor Garber, Bernadette Peters, Paolo Montalban, Jason Alexander, Veanne Cox, and Natalie Desselle Reid.

“Cinderella” will hit Disney+ on February 12th, 2021.
