Denver Repeals Their Ban on Pitbulls After 30 Years

Pitbulls which were once banned in Denver are now able to be owned again. They voted on the issue this election(2020) and the ban was lifted. This will be the first time in 30 years that the breed will be able to be owned in the Mile High City.

Many people believe that pitbulls are an aggressive breed but the fact of the matter is that they are trained that way. If you show them love and patience and train them well, they will be happy and content. They get a bad rap for being too protective but as long as they are raised right they do well in family homes. Especially those with children.

    Here’s a statement from Channel 7 Denver:

The law banning pitbulls was put in place in 1989 after 20 people had been attacked by pitbulls in the previous five years. One was a 3-year old who died from the attack in 1986. Hancock argued in his letter to council that less than 20% of all pets in Denver are currently licensed, which “raises significant questions about the effectiveness of this proposed new system.”

Proponents said breed-specific bans do not work and enforcing the ban has cost the City of Denver more than $5.8 million.

There are also many different types of pitbulls. If you’re looking to get one research which one would be best for you and your family.
