During the current pandemic one of the things that they’ve told us not to do over and over again is touch our faces. And thanks to this fact Kentucky Fried Chicken has decided to suspend the use of their famous 64 year old slogan. You know the one, “Finger Lickin’ Good”. They’ve found themselves with a slogan that doesn’t quite fit the times, and they are now trying to adapt.
“We find ourselves in a unique situation — having an iconic slogan that doesn’t quite fit in the current environment,” said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, global chief marketing officer at KFC in a statement. They’ve also released a video on YouTube with the words blurred out to make it seem more edgy.
KFC has always been pretty good at making fun of itself not only in commercials but in merch as well. They’ve sold the chicken scented yule log for the past few Christmases. Teamed up with Crocs to make “interesting” shoes, and have had success with a few other gimmicks as well.
This new revelation about the slogan is nothing more than a marketing scheme to get us talking, but you know what? They have a good point. Probably best not to put our hands near our faces anyway. Plus it’s greasy and you should be using wet wipes and washing your hands anyway.
