Facebook Rolled Out Dark Mode Globally on Desktop Today, Here’s How to Use It

While this news may seem old there was a catch to using dark mode prior to this. You would have had to opt into it early March. And it was only available in some markets. Now according to The Verge it will be available globally starting today. Which means you won’t have to bother your partner when you’re in bed with insomnia reading your friends Facebook feeds.

Facebook said in a blog post today, “now be the web experience for Facebook globally,” adding that “it’s faster, easier to use and gives your eyes a break with dark mode.”

A welcome change for those who suffer night blindness as the blearing white background can be headache inducing. Now we will have a much more mellow option for when we want to read but also are trying to get sleepy.

    To Use:

    1. Click on the down arrow at the end of the upper menu bar to pull up old Facebook’s settings menu.
    2. Click “Switch to new Facebook.”
    3. Click the same down arrow and toggle dark mode from off to on.

And now you should be ready to read your feed in a much more relaxed and comfortable environment for your eyes. Dark mode not only features that basic comfort but also a slimmer news feed and larger icons and menu bars for easily navigating.

While it is already available for most people Facebook is still rolling it out. This should be available in the next few days if you don’t already see the option. Just keep checking back. Soon your eyes will have sweet relief.
