Dwayne Johnson Confirms ‘Hobbs & Shaw 2’ is in Development

Since the first movie came out being a direct spin off of the Fast & Furious franchise it’s done pretty well for itself. The film made $760 million at the box office and while it’s not as much as it’s previous predecessors it’s nothing to sneeze at. Being led by two of our favorite men Dwayne the Rock Johnson, Jason Statham and Idris Elba it did great with audience ratings of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. All of this is enough to warrant a sequel and now according to Dwayne Johnson that is already in the works.

During a Q&A on instagram Johnson was asked about Hobbs & Shaw 2. He’s confirmed that it is in development at the moment, however there is no director, place or shooting date yet. He said,

“We are developing now the next film, the next [Hobbs & Shaw] movie, and I’m pretty excited about it,” Johnson said. “[We] just gotta figure out the creative right now, and the direction we’re going to go.”

So good news for fans of the franchise! As soon as productions start ramping up after we get COVID-19 under control we should hopefully be able to get some more movies made. And since the film is now in development that should mean that at least there will be a script to work from at that point.
