On a reddit thread /Ashmush posted that they had hosted a virtual wedding with many of their friends in Animal Crossing. The surprise came after having to cancel the real wedding due to COVID-19 fears. Unfortunately their fiance had had their graduation also cancelled and they wanted to do something nice for them the best way they knew how. So they started grinding in Animal Crossing in order to get everything together for a nice ceremony on the beach.
“My fiance planned it out with our best friends, I’m graduating from med school and not getting a graduation and our wedding was cancelled. I was feeling pretty down about missing out on my milestones.
This made me so happy, I don’t even have the words to describe how much it meant to me.

It’s really a sweet gesture. While many things, important things are being cancelled or postponed those who have planned major life events are getting hit the hardest. Those who had graduation ceremonies, weddings, and even baby showers are having to figure out what they will do.
At least we have Animal Crossing to socialize. Especially with all this “responsible social distancing” going on. Hopefully /Ashmush will be able to have their dream wedding someday. But for now this ceremony will live on in infamy.
