New Van Gogh Action Figure Comes With Detachable Ear

Vincent Van Gogh went through a lot of mental health issues in his life time. He suffered from depression and insomnia among other things. Unfortunately during his time there wasn’t really a way for him to get help and he was left to self medicate, which didn’t really work out for him. He was the artist who famously painted “Sunflowers” and also cut off his ear lobe in a fit of mania. After getting in a fight with fellow artist Paul Gauguin, he then gave it to a prostitute named Rachel as a token of affection. Well that’s one of the stories at least.

This new action figure is historically accurate in the fact that it comes with a detachable ear. Which I guess is a good learning tool for remembering art history. But also kind of sad that that is what he is so remembered for when he made such beautiful artwork.

You can get this figure through the Today Is Art Day Kickstarter where the lowest donation of $21 will get you your very own Van Gogh action figure.

Nerdbot does not make anything off the sale of this item, we just thought you would like to know.
