Tom Felton Wants to be the Next James Bond

Growing up having played Draco Malfoy can’t have been easy for Tom Felton. He’s been bullied over playing the role much like Alison Arngrim was for playing Nellie Oleson on Little House in the Prarie. The stigma of playing a bad guy has seemed to stick for the actor who could pull off that iconic sneer perfectly.

But he wants to officially throw his hat into the ring for playing the next James Bond and Potterheads are excited to see if it will come to fruition. He’s about the right age and just young enough to stick around for a while. And he’s British and darn good looking. Seriously have you seen him lately?

Now just imagine him wearing a suit and with his hair shortened and slicked back. He’s been quoted saying, “James Bond would be the ultimate dream…The first film I had, when I was seven years old was James Bond. That’s all I had on my mind.” While it’s also clear at this point that Daniel Craig is forever stepping out of Bond’s shoes we still don’t have an idea of who is going to be playing him next.

James Bond series producer Barbara Broccoli knows that Tom Felton wants to play Bond, but says that they just don’t know what direction they will be going in. She’s said, “I’m in total denial. I’ve accepted what Daniel has said, but I’m still in denial. It’s too traumatic for me…I believe we should be creating new characters for women – strong female characters. I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that. So while he might not have to fight off a female for the role, we still think Tom might have some fierce competition for the next person to be able to say the famous words: “Bond, James Bond”.”

Whatever may happen we know that the next Bond will be male. And if it comes down to a vote Felton may be able to use his Draco Malfoy clout and win the role. But it probably won’t because casting doesn’t work that way. Regardless it’s still a good idea and maybe if we talk about it enough it will eventually manifest.

What would you think of Tom Felton as James Bond? Tell us in the comments!
