Primarily French actress Claudine Auger, who is known for playing opposite Sean Connery in “Thunderball” has passed away at the age of 78. She broke through as a star internationally with her role in James Bond. Her agency told the media that she had died peacefully in Paris.
She was married at a young age to Pierre Gaspard-Huit, who first directed her in “Christine,” and later married the British businessman Peter Brent. She was chosen to play “Domino” in the 1965 Bond film “Thunderball” over Raquel Welch, Faye Dunaway and Julie Christie. Some of her other film credits include Jean Cocteau’s 1960 film “Testament Of Orpheus ”, and “Triple Cross” a 1965 film directed by Terrence Young. She did many films during the 60’s and 70’s and was in a lot of French cinema at that time.
Before she became an actress, Auger was a model and became Miss Cinemonde in 1957. She also won the title of Miss World in 1957 winning the longest running international pageant.
