Gal Gadot is changing pace from depicting a fictional heroine to a real one. Gadot will be producing and starring in a new drama called “Irena Sendler“. It will be based on the Polish heroine who saved thousands of Jewish children during the Holocaust.
Irena Sendler will be produced with Warner Bros and Gadot’s newly formed Pilot Wave along with producing partner and husband Jaron Varsano. Also producing is Marc Platt. Writing the screenplay is Justine Juel Gilmer who’s credits include “Harry Haft”.
The story will center around Irena who worked in the Polish underground in the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II. Sendler worked with a network of other people to help smuggle out children, provide them with false identification and place them with families. She was arrested by the Gestapo in 1943 and though she was tortured never revealed any information about the children or their new families.
