In the past it hasn’t been unheard of to have Hollywood stars enter into politics. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan both entered into the world of Politic Administration after having a career as an actor. What is a first however is having a former first couple enter into that world post presidency.

The Obama’s recently produced a film called American Factory which made its world premiere on January 26th at the Sundance Film Festival. Netflix bought out the exclusive rights to the film which is to premiere August 21st on the streaming service.

Not only are they signed for that but they have accepted an offer from Netflix to produce “scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries and features” under their company Higher Ground Productions. These will highlight the issues and themes the president pursued while in office and allow them to broadcast them on a Global stage.

“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience. That’s why Michelle and I are so excited to partner with Netflix — we hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world.”

This will be an interesting endeavor lead by the power couple. They will likely not use it as a political platform given their history with the Trump administration. They do not want to become a target for the current president more so than they already were.

What they will make remains to be seen but personally I would love to see a show where Barack and Biden just sit and talk.
