Will Smith’s Genie for Disney’s Live Action ‘Aladdin’ Revealed

Today we finally got to see what Will Smith will be looking like in the new Aladdin remake by Disney.

Revealed on the current issue of Entertainment Weekly was a look at Aladdin, Jasmine and the Genie. Fans have been wondering what exactly they would do with the look for the character because let’s face it, no one could ever come close to the Robin William’s version.

They opted for a blue outfit instead of blue toned skin for him, which makes sense because it’s much nicer looking. If anyone who has ever seen the Aladdin show at Disneyland then they know that blue paint can be a little crazy to see in action.

I mean check out that chest paint…

Will Smith is highly aware that fans who love the original 1992 Genie may have problems with the new version. He stated, “Whenever you’re doing things that are iconic, it’s always terrifying…The question is always: Where was there meat left on the bone? Robin didn’t leave a lot of meat on the bone with the character.” He continued, “[Williams] infused the character with a timeless version of himself. I started to feel confident that I could deliver something that was an homage to Robin Williams but was musically different. Just the flavor of the character would be different enough and unique enough that it would be in a different lane, versus trying to compete.”

Here’s a gallery with more photos from the EW release.
